The biennial CERTs Conference brings together communities, organizations, and individuals from across Minnesota to explore how the adoption of clean energy projects can benefit them and provides the resources to make it happen.

Mr. David Heim holds the positions of Associate Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at USA Microgrids (USA MG) and Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI). Mr. Heim is a professional with over 20 years of experience, and currently guides strategic activities and business development at USA MG. Mr. Heim is also responsible for overseeing OATI’s Strategic Initiatives, which includes development of new and emerging hardware, software, and security technologies. Mr. Heim was the Program Manager for the development and construction of the new OATI Microgrid Technology Center Prior where he honed his knowledge and expertise along with assembling the team of experienced microgrid professionals to move forward into this strategic space. Prior to his current positions, Mr. Heim was Chief Information Officer for OATI, in which position he was responsible for oversight of the OATI Data Centers and infrastructure, and coordinating compliance with IT-related industry and regulatory physical and cyber security standards, and began his OATI career in the Office of General Counsel. Mr. Heim also has extensive experience as an IT professional for a major international consulting firm before earning a law degree and holding positions in private legal practices prior to joining OATI. Mr. Heim combines his IT and legal backgrounds to uniquely and successfully carry out responsibilities.

Ms. Brown holds the position of Senior Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Open Access Technology International, Inc. (OATI), with which she has been associated since 1995. Ms. Brown is responsible for legal, compliance, and administrative activities at OATI as well as developing strategic business divisions which focus on hardware, software, and security technologies to support the expansion of microgrids and Distributed Energy Resource (DER) platforms. Prior to her current focus, Ms. Brown was involved with OATI initiatives implementing FERC Orders 888 and 889, energy market solutions, and established the OATI Compliance group which is responsible for coordination of all external and internal auditing at OATI. Prior to joining OATI, Ms. Brown held positions as Associate Professor of Business Law and Assistant City Counselor for a municipal government.
